This Privacy Notice explains how Joanne Johnson, trading as ClassAdapter Pro ("we", "us"), collects, uses, and protects your personal data when you use our website and services (the "Service"). Joanne Johnson is the data controller for the personal data we process about you.

- Profile data: preferences you set, language and reading-level defaults.
- Content data: source texts, files, and URLs you submit, and the AI-generated adaptations stored for you.
- Usage and telemetry: pages visited, features used, error logs, device and browser type, IP address, and approximate location.
- Support communications: messages you send us and our replies.
- Billing data: if you subscribe, our payment provider (Paddle) collects your payment details directly; we receive only limited information such as subscription status, plan, and billing country.
2. How we use your data
- To provide the Service — create your account, process your adaptations, store your bundles and folders, and authenticate you. (Legal basis: performance of a contract.)
- To bill you and manage subscriptions — through Paddle, our Merchant of Record. (Legal basis: performance of a contract.)
- To secure the Service — detect abuse, fraud, and security incidents. (Legal basis: legitimate interests.)
- To improve the Service — analyze usage patterns and fix errors. (Legal basis: legitimate interests.)
- To provide customer support — respond to your questions. (Legal basis: legitimate interests / contract.)
- To send service communications — important updates about your account or the Service. (Legal basis: legitimate interests / legal obligation.)
- To comply with law — respond to lawful requests and meet tax/accounting obligations. (Legal basis: legal obligation.)
3. Who we share your data with
We share your data only with the categories of recipients below:
- Paddle — our Merchant of Record for sale of the product, subscription management, payments, tax compliance, and invoicing. See Paddle's privacy notice at paddle.com/legal/privacy.
- Hosting and infrastructure providers — to host the Service, store your data, and run our authentication system.
- AI model providers — to generate text adaptations; the source text you submit is sent to these providers for processing.
- Analytics and error-monitoring providers — to understand usage and diagnose issues.
- Professional advisers — such as legal and accounting professionals where necessary.
- Authorities — where we are required to disclose data by law, court order, or to protect rights and safety.
We do not sell your personal data.
4. International transfers
Some of our providers may process data outside your country of residence, including in the United States. Where applicable, we rely on appropriate safeguards such as the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses or adequacy decisions.
5. Data retention
We keep your personal data for as long as your account is active and for a reasonable period afterwards to comply with legal obligations (such as tax records), resolve disputes, and enforce our agreements. When data is no longer required, we will delete or anonymize it. You can also request deletion at any time (see "Your rights" below).

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to: access the personal data we hold about you; correct inaccurate data; request deletion; restrict or object to certain processing; receive your data in a portable format; withdraw consent where processing is based on consent; and lodge a complaint with your local data-protection authority. 7. Security
We implement appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect your data, including encryption in transit, access controls, audit logging, and regular review of our security practices. No system is perfectly secure, but we work to protect your data as if it were our own.
8. Cookies
We use a small number of cookies and similar technologies that are strictly necessary to operate the Service (for example, to keep you signed in). We may also use analytics cookies to understand how the Service is used. You can manage cookies in your browser settings; disabling strictly necessary cookies may break parts of the Service.
9. Children
ClassAdapter Pro is designed for educators, not for direct use by children. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children under 13 (or the equivalent minimum age in your jurisdiction). If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us and we will delete it.
10. Changes to this notice
We may update this Privacy Notice from time to time. We'll revise the "Last updated" date above and, for material changes, notify you in the Service or by email.
